The Medieval and Early Modern era saw the invention of the classic fort and the old church. It was the time of ships and trade, silk roads and new worlds. It was an age of discovery.

There are still many corners of the country which are dedicated entirely to this era, a time which seems so far away from our everyday and yet shaped the globalised world we know.
